Banana Chips

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 cups Raw green bananas (peeled and cut into thin strips)
  • Cooking oil( Bran oil as it has a high boiling point)
  • 4 tbsp. Brown sugar 
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • Dash of salt

Procedure:

  • Clean the raw green bananas, wear some food gloves as this could stain your fingernails for a bit. Peel the skin off the banana and cut into 2 mm. thin strips, making sure that your thumb and fingernails are tucked away from the knife blade. If you are not comfortable with cutting, It would also be useful if you use a knife hand guard. Then wash it all in running water and drain in a strainer. 
  • Heat up the cooking oil around 175-190 degrees Celsius centigrade, wait until it is very hot, then place some of the bananas don’t over crowd the pan as it will stick together. Deep Fry until golden brown.
  • Place the golden brown bananas in a paper towel to drain all the excess oil.
  • In another pan, pour the hot water, throw in the sugar and a dash of salt in it. Stir constantly until it is boiling and syrupy then combine the fried bananas until all is coated with the sugar syrup. 
  • Place in a plate and let it cool a bit, then you can now enjoy your crispy banana chips! Or you could also store it away for another time in an airtight container. Anyway you may want it to be, be sure to enjoy it with your friends and family. 😄
